Beyond the Stone WallThe Ginger Press is proud to announce the publication of Beyond the Stone Wall by Kincardine resident Jacqueline R. Harvey. This historical novel written for young readers accurately describes conditions of the Lake Huron community of Inverhuron in the mid 1800s. Motivated by a love of local history, as well as the desire to put books with local content into the hands of her students, former teacher Jacqueline Harvey has spent the last four years researching and writing this gripping novel. Her initial inspiration was to create a story behind Inverhuron's famous stone wall; she expanded the facts to include a very clever dog, a boating disaster, a lost child and ultimately resolved the crises in a way that will encourage readers to imagine and respect the harsh conditions in our community 150 years ago. Jacqueline Harvey credits historian Bill Kearns for helping with much of the background detail in Beyond the Stone Wall. He read the manuscript and ensured that it was as accurate as possible in depicting the vibrant lakeside community of Inverhuron. Knowing from her students that they would enjoy a visual, fast-paced novel, Harvey insisted on including action and descriptions that would keep them turning pages. $12.95
