Exile No More![]() The Ginger Press is very pleased to announce the publication of Exile No More, a new selection of poems and drawings by Judy Lowry, a local writer and visual artist. Written over a two-decade period, the poems condense a lifetime of experience. Judy Lowry says, "My poems are not as frequent as my visual work. I have to wait patiently for them; I am never able to force them." Exile No More was edited by poet Phil Hall who was recently nominated for the prestigious Griffin Prize in Poetry. He says, "Judy's poems remind us that the unblinking heart can learn to see clearly and speak clearly." Exile No More was selected for publication from dozens of submissions by an independent advisory board looking for "emerging regional poets who are ready for publication," according to jurist Liz Zetlin. Although technology and other glitches delayed the publication date, a high degree of author participation and collaboration has ensured that the poet's work is now available to readers. Acknowledging that poetry is a tough sell, publisher Maryann Thomas says, "We are proud to be able to continue to bring new and established Grey County voices to the reading public. It is only through the support of our community that we can continue our publishing program and poetry, of course, is a very important literary form which needs a little more nurturing than most." |
