Ferns of Grey and Bruce

Within Grey and Bruce counties, 50 species of ferns are documented as currently occurring. This is 30% of our total flora whereas the 75 ferns recorded for the whole of Ontario comprise only about 2% of the total flora. Only two fewer ferns are found here than in the entire British Isles. For such a comparatively small area, Grey-Bruce has a remarkably high percentage of the list of ferns for the whole province. Ferns of Grey-Bruce is intended to provide, for amateurs and professionals, a reference which focuses on identification of local ferns. This book will be found useful in many part of the province, as approximately 67% of the fern species present in Ontario are described here.
